A really detailed superconducting magnet paper; all about the physical build, of a huge one for fusion use; 270km of REBCO tape, and weighing 10 Tonnes; some bits are fascinating, like the flood filling of the tape with solder.

The experience of totality is such a surreal experience. It's not just the sun being blocked out by the giant tortilla in the sky. It looked like the sun was setting/rising from every direction around. Starlings started chirping and geese started flying. Definitely worth seeing one in real life. No crappy cell phone picture could ever describe the 4 minute experience of the Great American Eclipse of 2024.
The Great American Traffic Jam of 2024 now follows.

The sun being eclipsed as viewed thru solar eclipse glasses.
The totality viewed with no filters, just clouds.

For those grappling with low energy, magnesium may serve as the much-needed elixir. Essential in ATP creation – the cornerstone of cellular energy – magnesium deficiency can usher in fatigue and compromised physical performance. Research targeting athletes discovered enhanced triathlon times following a four-week magnesium supplementation, attributed to efficient energy production and optimized oxygen utilization.

Okay, I get matching phase and frequency before grid connect. Synchroscope makes sense
They were messing with the amount of water let in to speed up and slow down the turbine,
But once it goes grid connect, they open the throttle wide open (I guess to push more watts?) And... It holds phase? How's that work?
Where is the exciter routed before grid connect? Straight back to itself? Straight to ground? Disconnected terminals?
What force resists speeding up beforehand? Just friction?
What force resists going out of phase afterwards? Why can you suddenly dump as much water as you like in the wicket gates?
What's the autopilot adjusting or following at that point? Solar inverters are grid following, what about hydro governors?
What makes it force disconnect during shutdown? A loss of watts? A loss of phase? A loss of frequency?

And this one is an auto shutdown:
